Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening trophy on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
