Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the party enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners tables.

Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
